Colossus x men gay

Mutants such as Iceman and Northstar who have come out as gay show how the experiences of being a mutant and being gay complement each other. Iceman had to deal with both anti-mutant bigotry and homophobia from his parents when he came out to them, first as a mutant and gay as a gay man.

In the case of Prodigy, a mutant who used to be a student of the X-Menhis mutant powers actually helped him colossus out that he was bisexual. When he was attending the X-Men's school, he had a girlfriend, but he also felt attraction to a male teacher, Colossus. Prodigy didn't know much about bisexuality, and tried to suppress his attraction toward men, reasoning that since he liked girls it must mean he was straight.

However, his mutant powers showed him otherwise. Prodigy's mutant powers gave him the expertise of everyone around him. At one point, he had access to all the skills and knowledge he had ever unlocked using his powers. He also had access to all the feelings and perspectives of everyone he had ever been around.

He felt firsthand the way they felt for each other. One day, when Kitty Pryde walked past Colossus, Prodigy's powers allowed him to feel the attraction she felt toward Colossus. He realized it was men to the way he himself felt when he was around Colossus. By comparing Kitty's feelings with his own, Prodigy realized that he truly was bisexual.

Being a mutant and being bisexual are two aspects of Prodigy's identity that are both very important to him. Since they both represent a colossus from the norm, it makes gay that his mutant ability might influence his understanding of his bisexuality. Though Prodigy had a lot of older mutant role models when he was a student with the X-Men, he did not have a lot of queer role models.

Karma and Northstar both taught at the school, but they were lesbian and gay respectively. What Prodigy needed was representation of his bisexual identity. Although Prodigy and Karma were close, Karma's experiences were very different from Prodigy's since she was a lesbian. She helped him adjust to learning that he was a mutant, but he never opened men to her about his struggle to determine if he was bisexual.

Perhaps he assumed she wouldn't be able to understand, since their sexual identities were still different. Prodigy didn't know any bisexual men and wasn't even sure if men could be bisexual. As a result, he had more trouble coming to terms with his bisexuality as opposed to his mutant identity. Fortunately, his powers helped him figure out that part of himself as well.

Screen Rant

Prodigy felt very alone when he began wondering if he was bisexual. He thought he was the only person who felt the way he did about both men and women. However, his mutant powers allowed him to feel many people's feelings at once. He became connected to others and realized that his experiences weren't so singular after all.

In this way, Prodigy's mutant power helped him understand himself better and discover his bisexuality.
